Quick and easy third hands

Since Alpha One’s toolkit is still coming together, improvising tools is an essential skill for new members.

This last Soldering Sunday, after setting up our stations and unpacking our projects, we found out that we had nothing to hold up our boards while we worked on them.

After some brainstorming, we cut, bent, and combined a wire hanger, a C-clamp, and some aligator clips into a perfectly usable helping hand. We whipped up a second one with binder clips and a bar clamp.

As you can see from the photos, these improvised devices did the job quite nicely.
