A project suggested by Matt. Use the Arduino as a home or business security system.

[edit] Features

  • Multiple switch inputs using an HC4021 or 74165 shift regster.
    • We may actually want to use the shift registers to control an analog multiplexer to measure the impedance of the line, to detect attempts to bypass installed detectors and switches.
  • Multiple outputs using 74595 shift register for status lamps, etc.
  • LCD status display output
  • Ethernet shield output to connect with Twitter, email, etc.
  • Keypad input
  • Multiple regulated voltage outputs to interface with various standard security hardware
  • Arduino driver libraries to interface with it all
  • Web status page that users can install on their own servers
  • iPhone app? Android app? TI Chronos app?
